The Aboriginal Mother Outreach Department is doing more than housing.  We are a wraparound program that helps support families and single men and women to seek further employment or education.  To help enhance their lives using the Medicine Wheel concept.

The AMCS Homelessness Outreach Program is designed for Aboriginal individuals and families in the Metro Vancouver area who are facing any of the following situations:

At risk of homelessness; or, Homeless for 6 months or more; or, have had 3 episodes of homelessness in the last year.  These services are made available by:  HPS (Homelessness Partnering Strategy) Housing First ESDC funding & HPP (Homelessness Prevention Program) BC Housing funding.

HF – searching for housing, resources for counselling and addiction counselling or mental health help.

NHF- searching for housing and calling other resources to find help with rental arrears.

HPP- 5 subsidies are full every month and have a wait list for housing subsidies.

Here is our most recent success story:

“Hi, my name is Deanna Piche, born and raised in Cold Lake Ab. Me and my children moved here March of 2012. I struggled with addiction and risk of homelessness for many years before I moved to Vancouver. Today I am sober, and life could not be any better.
When I relocated in June 2017 Sarah Thomas from housing outreach assisted me with a lot of the financial support, so I was able to re-home my family with little stress.
5 months later I received a call asking to come apply at AMCS and that I did, and here I am working for these wonderful people. I am truly grateful for all the love and support AMCS has provided.
This is my journey and I’m ecstatic AMCS has given me this opportunity to shine and prove that your past doesn’t reflect your future.”Type your paragraph here.
